The Lamb and the 144,000 on Mount Zion

1 Then I looked, and behold, ^athe Lamb was standing on ^bMount Zion, and with Him ^c144,000 who had ^dHis name and the ^ename of His Father written ^fon their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like ^gthe sound of many waters and like the ^hsound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of ⁱharpists playing on their harps. 3 And they *sang ^{▼▼One early ms something like a new song
,} ^ka new song before the throne and before the ^lfour living creatures and the ^melders; and ⁿno one was able to learn the song except the ^o144,000 who had been ^ppurchased from the earth. 4 ^qThese are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are celibate. These are the ones who ^rfollow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been ^spurchased from mankind ^tas first fruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And ^uno lie was found in their mouths; they are ^vblameless.

Vision of the Angel with the Gospel

6 And I saw another angel flying in ^wmidheaven with ^xan eternal gospel to preach to ^ythose who ^{▼▼Lit sit}live on the earth, and to ^aaevery nation, tribe, language, and people; 7 and he said with a loud voice, “ ^abFear God and ^acgive Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who ^admade the heaven and the earth, and sea and ^aesprings of waters.”

8 And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “ ^{▼▼Lit Babylon...fell, fell, she who
,} ^agFallen, fallen is ^ahBabylon the great, she who has ^aimade all the nations drink of the ^ajwine of the ^{▼▼Or wrath (incurred from God)}passion of her sexual immorality.”

Doom for Worshipers of the Beast

9 Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone ^alworships the beast and his ^amimage, and receives a ^anmark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink of the ^aowine of the wrath of God, which is mixed ^{▼▼Lit unmixed; in ancient times wine was usually diluted with water}in full strength ^aqin the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with ^arfire and ^{▼▼I.e., burning sulfur}brimstone in the presence of the ^atholy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the ^ausmoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; ^avthey have no rest day and night, those who ^awworship the beast and his ^aximage, and ^{▼▼Lit if anyone}whoever receives the ^azmark of his name.” 12 Here is ^bathe ^{▼▼Or steadfastness}perseverance of the ^{▼▼Lit holy ones; i.e., God’s people}saints who ^bdkeep the commandments of God and ^{▼▼Lit the faith of
,} ^bftheir faith in Jesus.

13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write: ‘ ^bgBlessed are the dead who ^bhdie in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” ^bisays the Spirit, “so that they may ^bjrest from their labors, for their ^bkdeeds follow with them.”

The Harvest

14 Then I looked, and behold, a ^blwhite cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one ^bmlike ^{▼▼Or the Son of Man}a son of man, with a golden ^bocrown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel ^bpcame out of the ^{▼▼Or sanctuary}temple, calling out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “ ^{▼▼Lit Send forth
,} ^bsPut in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the ^btharvest of the earth ^{▼▼Lit has become dry}is ripe.” 16 Then He who sat on the cloud ^{▼▼Lit cast}swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

17 And another angel ^bwcame out of the ^{▼▼Or sanctuary}temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, ^bythe one who has power over fire, came out from ^bzthe altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “ ^{▼▼Lit Send forth
,} ^cbPut in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters ^{▼▼Lit of}from the vine of the earth, ^cdbecause her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel ^{▼▼Lit cast}swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into ^cfthe great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And ^cgthe wine press was trampled ^choutside the city, and ^ciblood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, ^{▼▼Lit from}for a distance of ^{▼▼Possibly about 184 miles or 296 km; a Roman stadion perhaps averaged 607 ft. or 185 m}1,600 stadia.
